How long does an LED lighting retrofit take to pay back?
Replacing metal halide high bays in a facility that runs long hours often pays back in one to three years. Payback is fastest where lights run many hours a year, where demand charges are high, and where a utility incentive lowers the project cost.
How much energy does LED save compared to metal halide?
A 400-watt metal halide fixture draws about 458 watts with its ballast, while a comparable LED high bay typically uses 150 to 200 watts. That cuts lighting energy by roughly 55 to 70 percent, and occupancy sensors can save more.
Are there utility rebates for LED lighting in Texas?
Many Texas electric utilities, including CenterPoint Energy and Oncor, run commercial energy efficiency programs that can pay incentives for LED retrofits. Programs and amounts change each year, so we check what is available for your site when we quote.
Why do LED lights lower maintenance costs?
Quality LED fixtures are rated for 50,000 hours or more, several times the life of metal halide lamps. That removes most relamping, ballast replacement and lift rental, which is a big cost in high-ceiling warehouses and plants.
Who installs commercial and industrial LED lighting?
Allied Contractors designs and installs lighting as part of our commercial electrical and industrial electrical services for commercial facilities, industrial facilities and warehouses and distribution centers.
Estimates only. Results depend on the inputs entered and on assumed program effectiveness, which varies by facility, equipment age and condition. Energy rates, demand charges and operating hours vary by facility and utility contract. Utility incentives depend on the program in effect and are not guaranteed until approved.
